A family portrait is one of the most important things you can have in your home. When asked if they could only save one possession from a home, most people respond with family photographs. While life changes around you, it is important to have a permanent reminder of your family at a specific time in your lives. A family can be many things. A newlywed couple, a couple with children, multi-generation groups, or even just you, or you and your pets. Even friends can be your family.
The best time to take a family portrait is always "now." Of all the types of portraiture we create, family portraits are arguably the most important, yet the least likely to be scheduled. Why? Because, unlike a high school senior, or a new baby, or a wedding, there's no particularly compelling time to schedule family portraits. Family members' schedules can be difficult to coordinate, and it's easy to put off the portrait for later. You can turn a family portrait into a mini-reunion, or plan it around a holiday. Remember that a family portrait is not a once-in-a-lifetime event, either. Families change; they can grow, they may shrink, and they always age. If there is an addition to the family, whether it's a baby or a new spouse, that's a good reason for a new family portrait. And even if there aren't any new additions, it's good to take a new family portrait every two or three years, to chronicle your family through time.
Some people really don't like getting family portraits taken. They say they would rather go to the dentist without Novocaine. We understand and try to make the experience as painless as possible. We can come to you when you have a family gathering, or you can schedule a studio sitting on your way out to dinner to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. You can make an appointment for after church or around other events for which you may get dressed up in your best. We will make it easy, convenient and maybe even fun to get your family portraits.
